The engagement took place on Monday, October 12, when a delegation led by GRNMA President Mrs. Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo paid a courtesy call on the Regional Director of Health Services, Dr. Fred Adomako-Boateng, at the Regional Health Directorate in Kumasi.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the Association’s leadership and regional health officials to discuss concerns affecting nursing and midwifery professionals and explore ways to strengthen collaboration between the GRNMA and the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

Among the issues discussed were staff welfare, working conditions, postings and transfers, professional development, capacity building and study leave.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of sustained cooperation between the Association and the Health Service at both the regional and national levels.
The engagement brought together senior officials of the Regional Health Directorate, including the Acting Regional Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, Mrs. Odette Anaaba, alongside members of the GRNMA’s national and regional executive teams.
Dr. Adomako-Boateng commended the GRNMA leadership for the visit and assured the delegation of his continued support and cooperation towards improving healthcare delivery in the Ashanti Region.

The courtesy call formed part of a three-day working tour by the GRNMA’s national leadership in the Ashanti Region, scheduled for October 11–13, 2026. The tour is intended to strengthen engagement with members and key stakeholders in the health sector.
The visit underscores the importance of dialogue between professional associations and health authorities in addressing workforce concerns and supporting the delivery of quality healthcare.
