A 6-Year-Old Girl Found Dead in an Abandoned Vehicle at Suame Market (Video)

The Suame community has been shaken by a heartbreaking discovery: the lifeless body of a 6-year-old girl, reported missing three days earlier, was found in an abandoned vehicle within the bustling Suame market.

According to reports, the child went missing on Sunday, May 4, 2025, after accompanying her mother, a trader in plastic bowls, to the market for her usual business activities.

An eyewitness, Mr. Akwasi Owusu—popularly known in the area as “Awuliquaye”—recounted the sequence of events in an interview.

“She (the mother) told me on Sunday that her daughter had disappeared while she was selling.

We searched everywhere. Unfortunately, today, May 7, the news broke that the girl was found dead and nearly decomposed inside a private, abandoned car in the market,” he said.

Local police from the Suame division have since transported the child’s remains to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) morgue for autopsy and further investigation.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of death, but the discovery raises serious questions about safety and security within one of Kumasi’s busiest marketplaces.

The tragic incident has sparked outrage and sorrow among residents, many of whom are now demanding improved market surveillance and accountability for neglected spaces that pose potential risks.

The Suame police have assured the public of a thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances leading to the girl’s death.
