The Ghana Police Service has recognized and promoted four officers of the Western Central Regional Police Command for their exceptional professionalism, diligence, and dedication to duty, particularly in connection with a high-stakes operation that led to the arrest of three armed suspects linked to the Asiyaw multiple murder case.

-
No. 52192 G/Cpl. Christian Asare – Promoted to Sergeant
-
No. 52441 G/Cpl. Nicholas Kingsley Amoah – Promoted to Sergeant
-
No. 59947 G/Const. Adam Yakubu – Promoted to Lance Corporal

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, along with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), presented the promotions as a formal acknowledgment of the officers’ bravery, precision, and timely response.
The IGP emphasized that such dedication would continue to be recognized and rewarded to boost morale across the service.
The Arrest That Sparked the Promotion
The promotions are directly linked to a critical police operation on April 30, 2025, one day after the gruesome murder of five individuals at Asiyaw near Nsawam—an incident that sent shockwaves across the country.
During a routine highway patrol at the Bawdie Barrier, near Wassa Akropong, the four officers intercepted a Grand Bird Bus (registration number AS 4431-22) heading toward Wassa Akropong.
Acting on suspicion and executing due diligence, the officers conducted a thorough search and uncovered a submachine gun (SMG) and 21 rounds of live ammunition concealed in a bag belonging to Mr. Hakeem Imoro, one of the passengers.
Interrogation revealed that the weapon had been given to Imoro by his employer, Mr. Samuel Atsu Forson alias Alanyo, a suspect already in police custody for his central role in the Asiyaw killings.
The two other passengers, Mr. Imoro Tahiru and Mr. Nurideen Wahab, were also found to be complicit in the attempted escape from the jurisdiction.
Subsequent investigations confirmed that all three men arrested at the barrier were directly linked to the Asiyaw murder case and had been trying to flee the region to avoid apprehension.
A Model of Policing Excellence
The successful interception and arrest by these four officers not only prevented the suspects’ escape but also provided crucial leads that helped solidify the case against the masterminds of the Asiyaw massacre.
Their promotion is being seen as a symbol of hope and accountability within the service, especially at a time when public trust in law enforcement remains critical.
The Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to rewarding excellence and ensuring that duty and integrity are celebrated across all ranks.
