Mr. David Kwodow Prah Afful, widely known on social media as Kwame Nkrumah II, has been sentenced to seven months in prison by the Accra Circuit Court after pleading guilty to issuing death threats and engaging in offensive conduct likely to breach the peace.
Mr. Afful was arrested following the circulation of a viral video in which he made threatening remarks, claiming he would harm the President, Members of Parliament, and other government officials if he had access to a gun or cutlass.
His statements sparked public concern and prompted swift action by law enforcement authorities.
During court proceedings, Mr. Afful admitted to the charges brought against him.
The court found his conduct to be not only unlawful but also a potential threat to public order and national security.
In delivering the sentence, the court emphasized the seriousness of using threatening language, especially in the current political climate, and warned that such behavior would not be tolerated.
Afful will serve his sentence at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison.
