Social Welfare and Protection: 2026 Budget Will Benefit Women and Vulnerable Groups – Krachi West MP reveals

The 2026 budget presented by the government has received praise from Reverend Helen Adwoa Ntoso,the Krachi West MP believes the budget had factored welfare of women and vulnerable groups.

Speaking in parliament, vociferous Reverend Ntoso highlighted the budget’s focus on promoting gender equality in education, healthcare, and economic empowerment.

According to Reverend Ntoso, the budget encompass initiatives such as distributing 6.6 million sanitary pads to girls in public schools, which has led to a 15% increase in school attendance.

Additionally, the budget allocates GHC 1.1 billion to support extremely poor households, including children, people with disabilities, and pregnant women.

Also, the government had earmarked GHC 1.98 billion for school feeding, expanding beneficiary schools and ensuring more children have access to nutritious meals.

Furthermore, 10 girls’ schools will receive ICT laboratories to promote gender equality in education and bridge the digital divide.

Reverend Ntoso emphasized that the budget’s focus on agriculture, healthcare, and social protection is another layer of positive impact on women and vulnerable groups.

The government’s priorities in welfare boosting include vegetable planting, rice, poultry, and input subsidies for smallholder farmers, thereby benefiting women in agriculture.

“The budget is a good budget, and I urge all stakeholders to support the government’s efforts to promote the welfare of women and vulnerable groups,” Reverend Ntoso said.

She added that the government’s commitment to resetting the economy will create job opportunities and stimulate growth, ultimately benefiting all Ghanaians.

Reverend Ntoso’s comments come as the government faces criticism from the opposition, who have expressed concerns about the budget’s allocation of resources.

However, Reverend Ntoso urged the opposition to focus on constructive criticism and prayer, rather than lamentation, citing biblical scripture to emphasize the importance of supporting the government.
