A 44-year-old man, Kweku Charles, has been arrested for allegedly burying his 80-year-old wife, Esther Bolu, in the bedroom of their home for more than two weeks.
The incident reportedly came to light after neighbours and community members raised concerns over the prolonged absence of the deceased, who was the founder and leader of a church.
Residents became suspicious when she was not seen for over two weeks, while her husband had allegedly taken over the leadership of the church during that period.
Following reports to the authorities, police investigations led to the discovery of the deceased’s body buried inside the bedroom of the couple’s residence.
The suspect was subsequently arrested to assist with investigations.
Police have launched a full inquiry to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death, while the suspect remains in custody and is expected to be arraigned before court.
