The Member of Parliament for the Madina Constituency, Hon. Dr. Francis Xavier Sosu, together with the National Youth Authority (NYA), has launched an Apprenticeship Drive in Madina, equipped 11 Master Trainers.
Hon. Dr. Francis Xavier Sosu noted that the implementation of the National Apprenticeship Program in the constituency marks a significant milestone in youth development.

He expressed profound gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama, the National Youth Authority, and the national, regional, and municipal coordinators of the program for their collective efforts in bringing the initiative to Madina.
Describing the intervention as a major boost, Dr. Sosu noted that it complements ongoing efforts through the Madina Job Center and the Madina Chamber of Commerce.
He recalled that the Job Center was established in 2019 and has since partnered with numerous master craftsmen to train young people across the constituency.

“To date, we can confidently say that over 10,000 individuals have directly and indirectly benefited from the Madina Job Center’s training programmes,” he stated.
He further announced that on the 30th of this month, cohorts trained in catering and baking will graduate, with many set to receive starter tools to enable them to immediately launch their own businesses.
Highlighting the impact of the newly introduced apprenticeship program, Hon. Sosu revealed that 11 additional master trainers have been equipped with tools to train young people. Each trainer is expected to mentor at least five apprentices, potentially benefiting a minimum of 55 youth.

“In some cases, due to the success of our existing Job Center initiatives, certain trainers are taking on even more apprentices—up to 20 or 25—across various trades,” he added.
The training spans a wide range of vocational skills, including sewing, hairdressing, electronics, and cosmetology. Looking ahead, he disclosed plans to expand the program to include specialized training in heavy machinery operation, such as backhoes, tractors, and excavators, to enhance employment opportunities in industrial and rural sectors.
Dr. Sosu reiterated his appreciation to President Mahama for what he described as a “golden opportunity,” assuring that the constituency would diligently manage the program to maximize its benefits for both Madina and Ghana as a whole.

Meanwhile, the Greater Accra Regional Coordinator of the National Youth Authority, Jones Klutse, underscored the importance of skills acquisition among the youth.
He urged young people to prioritize vocational training over the pursuit of white-collar jobs alone.
He further emphasized that even individuals seeking employment in the private security sector should possess relevant technical or vocational skills before applying.
