Akuapem Chief Joins TECH Summit Council, Backs Silicone Ridge Drive

The Nifahene of the Akuapem Traditional Council, Osuodumgya Otutu Ababio V, has accepted an appointment to the Governing Council of the Akuapem Tech Summit 2026, pledging traditional support for the region’s “Akuapem Silicon Ridge” agenda.

The endorsement was made during a courtesy visit by the Akuapem Technology Secretariat to his palace in Adukrom. The delegation presented the Governing Council invitation and the Akuapem Tech Summit Policy Framework to secure traditional leadership backing ahead of the 2026 event.

Acting Chairman Benjamin Ofori led the delegation. It included Acting Director of Operations Mr. Ayeh Akuffo and Amb. Nana Aku Sika Okani II, Acting Director for Sponsorships and Partnerships. The visit forms part of wider stakeholder consultations to build institutional support for the summit.

Mr. Akuffo told the Nifahene the Secretariat’s long-term vision centers on youth empowerment, innovation, and digital transformation. “Our vision is to transform Akuapem into a thriving technology and innovation hub by empowering young people with digital skills, entrepreneurship opportunities, and access to emerging technologies,” he said.

He said the initiative goes beyond a single event.

“The Akuapem Technology Secretariat is not just organizing a summit. We are building a long-term development platform that will attract investment into education, agriculture, and innovation across the Akuapem Ridge,” Akuffo added.

Osuodumgya Otutu Ababio V welcomed the initiative and formally accepted the Governing Council role. “This is a vision worth supporting,” he said. “I am ready to contribute my time and resources to support this vision and ensure its success.” He urged organisers to build beyond the five-year plan. “Do not allow this initiative to end with the five-year plan.

Build an institution that will continue to serve Akuapem for generations,” he advised.

The meeting was attended by members of the Nifahene’s council and witnessed by Okere MP Hon. Daniel Nana Addo-Kenneth, alongside delegates from Pennsylvania in the United States.

The Nifahene pledged guidance, influence, and resources, calling the summit a transformative opportunity for the Akuapem area.

Inspired by Okuapehene His Majesty Oseadeɛyo Nana Kwasi Akuffo Ababio III, the Akuapem Tech Summit seeks to bridge the digital divide by promoting access to technology, digital literacy, and multi-stakeholder collaboration.

The 2026 summit will be launched on October 1, 2026, at Peduase Valley Resort, with about 1,000 in-person attendees expected, plus a global virtual audience.

The Akuapem Technology Secretariat, under the Akuapem Traditional Council, will coordinate partnerships and execute all related programmes.
