Recent demolition of a newly commissioned four-seater toilet facility in Adjiringanor has raised alarm among residents.
This unsettling event was carried out by individuals purporting to be officials representing the Ghana GRID Company (GRIDCo).
The facility, which stands as a beacon of hope for the community, was built and officially handed over by Mrs. Akosua Manu, affectionately known as Kozi.
She is the parliamentary candidate for the Adentan constituency, campaigning on the ticket of the NPP during the 2024 elections.
In a shocking turn of events, less than 24 hours after Mrs. Manu inaugurated this much-needed facility, a group of individuals arrived, armed and intent on tearing it down.
The toilet facility was constructed to address the pressing sanitation needs of a community that has long endured the hardships of living without access to a clean and hygienic restroom.
The joy and relief that enveloped the community during its commissioning have now been abruptly dashed, leaving residents in a state of disbelief and frustration.
The destruction of this facility not only represents an attack on vital infrastructure but also undermines the progress of community development, public health, and the inherent dignity of the people.
Mrs. Manu passionately emphasized that this incident is a grave injustice and a blatant act that threatens the very essence of community progress.
“We must not allow impunity to take root where efforts to alleviate suffering are concerned,” she asserted, calling for unity and resilience among the residents.
Determined to forge ahead, she expressed her commitment to delivering people-centered solutions for Adentan and beyond, stating that she will not be dissuaded by intimidation, acts of sabotage, or bad faith tactics.
She urged residents to remain calm and assured them that appropriate measures will be taken to seek justice and restore the facility to its rightful place within the community.
