Massive Fire Ravages Over 500 Wooden Structures in Tema Industrial Area

In the early hours of Thursday, June 19, 2025, a devastating fire erupted behind Ferro Fabrik Limited in the bustling Tema Heavy Industrial Area, consuming more than 500 wooden structures.

These structures, used for a combination of domestic and commercial purposes, were engulfed in flames late Wednesday night, June 18, causing significant property loss but, thankfully, no casualties.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) received an urgent distress call around 11:52 PM, mobilizing a rapid and well-coordinated firefighting operation.

The first team, led by Assistant Divisional Officer I Orlando Adablanu, was dispatched from the Tema Industrial Area Fire Station and arrived on scene within six minutes, at approximately 11:58 PM.

Firefighters battled the blaze through the night, managing to bring it under control by 1:59 AM and completely extinguishing the fire by 5:43 AM on Thursday morning.

The operation was bolstered by reinforcements, including six additional fire engines from neighboring fire stations in Tema Metro, Motorway, Ashaiman, Newtown, Devtraco, and BOST.

The fire service effort was further supported by high-ranking officials such as Tema Regional Fire Commander Assistant Chief Fire Officer II Patrick Sallah and other senior officers, along with emergency response partners.

Their combined efforts prevented the inferno from spreading to critical industrial facilities, including Ferro Fabrik Limited and nearby factories, thereby limiting potential damage to vital infrastructure.

Divisional Officer II Ebenezer Yenzu, the Public Relations Officer for GNFS in Tema, commended the prompt and tactical response of the firefighters, noting that their professionalism and swift action were crucial in saving lives and protecting properties in the industrial enclave.
