In a bid to strengthen domestic revenue mobilization and enhance governance at Ghana’s tax authority, President John Dramani Mahama has appointed nine distinguished individuals, including Madina MP, Mr. Francis-Xavier Sosu, to the Board of Directors of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
The appointments take immediate effect.
The newly constituted board, chaired by Mr. George Ricketts Hagan, former Deputy Minister of Finance and current Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South, is tasked with providing strategic direction and oversight as the GRA embarks on critical reforms to improve efficiency, compliance, and transparency in tax administration.
Mr. Francis-Xavier Sosu, a seasoned legal practitioner and prominent human rights advocate, brings a wealth of legal and policy expertise to the board.

His inclusion signals the administration’s intent to foster more inclusive and accountable tax policy. Sosu is widely recognized for his contributions to social justice and public service, and he is expected to be a key voice in promoting equity within Ghana’s tax system.

During the announcement, Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson underscored the vital role the GRA plays in Ghana’s economic development.
He urged the new board to lead transformative reforms that will enhance revenue performance, enforce compliance, and rebuild public trust in the country’s tax institutions.
The GRA Board holds the mandate to guide the authority’s long-term strategies and ensure effective implementation of fiscal policies aligned with national development goals.
