Popular Ghanaian actor Samuel Seth Karikari, widely known as Koo Fori, has been remanded into police custody following his failure to appear in court over a fraud case.
The actor, known for his comic roles in Ghanaian film and television, is now facing serious legal trouble as authorities pursue allegations of financial misconduct.
According to court proceedings, Koo Fori was initially served with an accused summons on April 17, 2025, but failed to honour the court’s invitation.
Despite the prosecution’s request for a bench warrant during that hearing, the court opted to adjourn the matter to April 23, hoping the accused would appear voluntarily.
However, Koo Fori was again absent on the new date.
This prompted Chief Inspector Christopher Wonder, who is leading the prosecution, to renew his request for a bench warrant — this time successfully.
Following the issuance of the warrant, the actor was arrested and brought before the court.
He was remanded into police custody and is expected to remain there through the weekend as the case proceeds.
Details surrounding the specific nature of the alleged fraud have yet to be publicly disclosed, but sources close to the investigation suggest it involves a financial transaction gone wrong, potentially implicating Koo Fori in a breach of trust or fraudulent misrepresentation.
His arrest has shocked fans and raises broader conversations about accountability and transparency among public figures.
Koo Fori is expected to reappear in court in the coming days as the prosecution prepares to present charges and evidence against him formally.
