The Member of Parliament for Kwabre East, Mr. Onyinah Acheampong Kwasi-Gyamfi, has commended the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, for initiating a scholarship arrangement with the Nobel International Business School (NIBS).
The scheme is designed to help Members of Parliament and staff of the Parliamentary Service pursue advanced academic programs to enhance their professional capabilities.
Speaker Bagbin’s announcement, which came during a formal session in Parliament, was met with widespread praise from MPs across the political spectrum.
Lawmakers lauded the Speaker’s foresight and commitment to personal and institutional development through higher education.
Mr. Onyinah Acheampong—popularly known as “Onyinah Guy Guy”—highlighted the timeliness of the initiative, noting that he had recently visited NIBS to inquire about its Doctor of Public Sector Innovation and Leadership program.
He expressed satisfaction with the institution’s facilities, curriculum, and conducive learning environment, describing them as evidence of NIBS’s commitment to academic excellence.
“I wish to thank you, Mr. Speaker, for your hard work and exemplary leadership,” said Hon. Onyinah. “You continue to set the pace, and this gesture demonstrates your fatherly concern for the welfare of Members and your desire for us to excel.”
The Kwabre East legislator also thanked NIBS for its willingness to extend such a prestigious academic opportunity to Parliamentarians.
He added that the school’s flexible lecture schedules would make it easier for MPs to balance their legislative duties with academic commitments.
While echoing the suggestion by some MPs to consider holding lectures within the premises of Parliament for convenience, Mr. Onyinah maintained that even without such an arrangement, NIBS’s environment is well-equipped to meet the educational needs of lawmakers.
Speaker Bagbin, in his response, acknowledged the Kwabre East MP’s enthusiasm and commended his proactive interest in furthering his education.
