As calls for removal of the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng’s heightens amidst protest and petitions to the Office of the President to initiate his removal, the Member of Parliament for Tema West, Hon. James Enu Esq. Is vehemently condemning same, labelling it as unjustifiable.
According to the Tema West MP, demonstrations and pushbacks are constitutional rights granted to citizens in law, but said calls for Kissi Agyebeng’s removal is not appropriate but rather strengthening the office adequately will ensure effectiveness and efficiency of the office.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) was established to address corruption and corruption-related activities independently, without government interference.
The legislator argues that the OSP has shown promising results, with 67 pending cases and Ghc103 million recouped for the government.
In addition,the Tema West lawmaker noted that building the office’s capacity through resourcing, training, personnel, and logistics to enable it to tackle corruption more effectively.
“Removing the Special Prosecutor is not the solution”, he insisted.
