GAF, Security Agencies to Conduct Major Show of Force in Accra on December 11

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), in collaboration with a number of national security agencies, will on Thursday, December 11, 2025, undertake a major Show of Force exercise across Accra.

In a statement issued by the Department of Public Relations and signed by Colonel Evelyn Ntiamoah Asamoah, GAF said the joint operation will involve personnel from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana National Fire Service, the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, and the Ghana Immigration Service.

The exercise will commence at 9:00 a.m. at Black Star Square, with participating security units expected to move through selected routes within the capital before circling back to the point of departure for the conclusion of the operation.

According to GAF, the activity aims to enhance operational readiness, deter criminal activity, and reassure the public of the vigilance of the country’s security services as the Christmas festivities approach.

The exercise will also strengthen inter-agency cooperation and support broader national security objectives.

Residents in the Greater Accra Region have been advised to anticipate heightened security presence and minor traffic interruptions. GAF, however, encouraged the public to remain calm and continue with their daily activities as usual.
