31-Year-Old Bishop James Jailed for Stealing Metal from an Abandoned, Unfinished Buildin

Bishop James, a Liberian couldn’t believe it when he was imprisoned for stealing a metal that was abandoned in an uncompleted building in which he was finding refuge.

According him, he lived with his mother in Winneba, but she ejected him out of the house over his disrespectful attitude towards her.

Bishop, narrating what led to his imprisonment, told Crime Check that he pleaded with a caretaker of an uncompleted building to accommodate him.

However, while living in the yet-to-be completed house, he saw a metal scrap which he thought had been abandoned.

The 31-year-old man said he took the metal and sold it to scrap dealers.

The young man said he was later confronted by the caretaker but he told him  he had sold it.

Though the caretaker told him he had forgiven him, he still got him arrested because he realized he would be held accountable by the owner of the house.

Young Bishop said he was arraigned before court and sentenced to 26 months.

Crime Check Foundation, with support from an Australian based clergyman, Bishop Kwesi Owusu Agyemang paid his fine for his release from prison.

Bishop James says he has learnt his lessons and has repented.
