A robbery attempt at Darkuman was dramatically foiled when a courageous driver rammed his vehicle into two fleeing suspects who had moments earlier attacked a mobile money (MoMo) vendor and made away with GH¢7,700.
According to eyewitness accounts, the armed robbers struck the vendor and attempted to escape with the cash when the alert driver intervened, deliberately knocking down two of the suspects with his car to prevent their getaway.
The swift action caused panic among the robbers and disrupted their escape plan.
Despite the intervention, one of the suspects managed to flee the scene.
His accomplice, however, was apprehended and left at the mercy of an angry mob, who reportedly descended on him before security personnel arrived.
The injured suspect was later rescued and handed over to the police for further investigations.
Authorities have since launched a manhunt for the escaped accomplice and are urging the public to provide any information that may lead to his arrest.
Police have commended the public for their vigilance but cautioned against mob justice, stressing the need for suspects to be handed over to law enforcement for due process.
