A joint security operation led by the Cyber Security Authority has dismantled several suspected cybercrime centres operating across parts of the Greater Accra Region, resulting in the arrest of nine alleged kingpins and the rescue of 44 victims.
The coordinated raids targeted locations at East Legon Hills, Afienya, Kwabenya, Weija, and Tuba, where authorities uncovered what are believed to be organised cybercrime hubs.
In total, 53 Nigerian nationals were arrested during the operation, including the nine individuals suspected to be the masterminds behind the illicit activities.

Investigations indicate that the rescued victims were being housed in apartments and coerced or exploited into engaging in various forms of cybercrime under the control of the alleged kingpins.

Security personnel also retrieved significant exhibits during the raids, including 62 laptop computers, 52 mobile phones, and two pump-action guns, which are expected to aid ongoing investigations.
The Cyber Security Authority says the operation forms part of broader efforts to clamp down on cybercrime networks, protect vulnerable persons from exploitation, and strengthen national security.

Further investigations are underway, and the suspects are expected to be processed in accordance with the law.
