Three students have been arrested in connection with the assault of a student from Obrachire Senior High Technical School, an incident captured in a viral video following a clash at an athletics event in Agona Swedru.
Police–School Engagement
The arrests followed an engagement between the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP/Mrs. Lydia Yaako Donkor, and the management of Swedru School of Business on February 23, 2026.
At about 9:00 p.m. on the same day, authorities of Swedru School of Business handed over three students to the Swedru Divisional Police Command in connection with the incident.
Suspects Identified
The suspects, all students of Swedru School of Business, have been identified as:

Police confirmed that the three were subsequently arrested and are expected to be put before court.

Background to the Incident
The arrests stem from a violent confrontation between students of the two schools during an inter-school athletics competition. In a widely circulated video, a student believed to be from Obrachire Senior High Technical School is seen being struck with sticks and pelted with stones during chaotic scenes.
The victim reportedly sustained injuries and was hospitalised for treatment.
Police Condemnation
The Central Regional Police Command has condemned the conduct of the students involved and reiterated its warning against acts of violence, particularly during school events.
Authorities have urged students and the general public to resolve disputes peacefully and to uphold discipline and sportsmanship at all times.
Investigations remain ongoing.
