The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) displayed professionalism and operational efficiency following a fatal road traffic accident at Ayensudo Meyinda on the Cape Coast–Takoradi Highway on Saturday, 20 December 2025.
At exactly 0926 hours, the GNFS received a distress call reporting a serious collision. A rescue team from the Komenda Fire Station was immediately dispatched to the scene to provide emergency assistance.
Upon arrival, firefighters swiftly secured the accident site and conducted a careful rescue operation.
Five victims were found deceased and were successfully extricated from a Toyota Hiace bus that had veered off the road after colliding with a DAF truck.
The GNFS worked in close coordination with the Ghana Police Service and the National Ambulance Service to manage the incident effectively.
Injured victims were promptly transported to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Following the rescue efforts, the firefighters cleared debris from the roadway to restore traffic flow and prevent further hazards.
The timely and coordinated response once again underscored the GNFS’s commitment to saving lives, supporting partner emergency agencies, and enhancing road safety across the country.
