Ghana is poised to become a beacon of food security in the region, with the government’s concerted efforts to transform the agricultural sector starting to bear fruit,this according to the Wa East Member of Parliament, Honourable Dr. Seidu Jasaw.
Commenting on the 2026 budget on the floor of Parliament, the Honourable Member of Parliament posited that the coutry would have overcome food security challenges by the end of 2026, with agriculture emerging as a key driver of economic growth.
This optimism is underpinned by the government’s focus on value addition of local produce, a strategy aimed at unlocking the sector’s full potential and boosting its contribution to the economy.
The move is expected to have a ripple effect on the economy, creating new opportunities for farmers, entrepreneurs, and young people.
As Ghana takes bold steps to secure its food future, the Wa East lawmaker pcalled on Ghanaians to take pride in the country’s agricultural achievements.
“I’m very confident that by close of year 2026, everyone of us will satisfy that we don’t have food security challenges anymore,” the Honourable Dr. Jasaw said.
“With agriculture at the forefront of Ghana’s development agenda, the country is set to embark on a new era of prosperity, driven by the ingenuity and resilience of its people, Honourable Dr Godfred Seidu Jasaw concluded.
