A tragic incident has rocked the community of Tomefa in the Ga South Municipality, following the discovery of a teenage girl’s lifeless body in a stream under mysterious circumstances.
The deceased, identified as Gloria Segoe, was a student at Keta Business Senior High School (SHS).
According to initial reports, Gloria had taken exeat from school under the pretense of visiting her grandmother in Agbozome, but instead diverted her journey to Kasoa to meet her boyfriend.
Authorities say she never returned.
On the evening of Monday, June 23, 2025, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) received a distress call at 10:02 p.m. reporting a body floating in a stream at Tomefa.
A rescue team was immediately dispatched, and by 10:42 p.m., the body was retrieved and handed over to the Ghana Police Service for further investigation.
The incident was confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of the GNFS, DOII Desmond Ackah, during an interview on Adom FM’s midday bulletin, Kasiebo is Tasty.
“We responded swiftly after receiving the call.
Unfortunately, the young girl was already dead.
This morning, her mother identified the body at the Police Hospital,” DOII Ackah stated.
Questions Surround Circumstances of Death
While the exact cause of death remains unclear, suspicions have been heightened due to the conflicting details surrounding the girl’s movements.
Preliminary investigations suggest Gloria never made it to Agbozome as she had claimed. Instead, she visited her boyfriend in Kasoa—a deviation that may now be key to unraveling the mystery.
The boyfriend, whose name has not been disclosed, has since been arrested and is assisting police with investigations.
According to DOII Ackah, the young man claims he was at work when he received a call about Gloria’s death. He has denied any involvement.
“He says he didn’t see her that day and was only informed later. Investigators are now trying to verify his claims,” DOII Ackah explained.
