Ghana’s agricultural renaissance: budget 2026 paves way for sustainable growth-Wa East MP

Member of Parliament for Wa East Constituency, Honourable Godfred Seidu Jasaw is describing the 2026 budget as a strategic investments in value addition, infrastructure, and fisheries development have sparked hope among stakeholders, who believe it could be the catalyst for the country’s economic transformation.

Dr. Jasaw indicated in an exclusive interview with Daily Analyst in Parliament that initiatives like the Feed Ghana Program, cocoa plantation development, and fisheries sector reforms, the government aims to boost productivity, reduce post-harvest losses, and increase exports.

He argued that the government’s decision to establish processing plants for crops like cashew and poultry is expected to create employment opportunities, stimulate local economies, and promote sustainable growth.

He alluded that the budget’s focus on competitiveness, through reduced production costs and improved infrastructure, is designed to make locally produced goods more attractive to consumers.

“As Ghanaian consumers increasingly shifts preferences to local products, the stage is set for a thriving agricultural sector that drives economic growth, improves livelihoods, and promotes food security,”Dr Godfred Seidu Jasaw noted.

Citing the Agric Committee of Parliament as being  tasked with overseeing the implementation of these initiatives, he is optimistic about the potential outcomes.

Dr. Jasaw concluded by attributing the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability making Ghanaians to eagerly await the rollout of initiatives, which promise to transform the country’s agricultural landscape and usher in a new era of prosperity.
