“Think Outside the Box” — Madina MCE Charge MMDCEs at School, Clinic and Mosque Project Ceremony

In a bold call for innovation at the local government level, the Municipal Chief Executive of La Nkwantanang–Madina, Hon. Ibrahim Faila Fuseini, has urged Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) across Ghana to look beyond central government funding and actively court donor partnerships to accelerate development.

Hon. Ibrahim Faila, has called on MMDCEs nationwide to adopt innovative, partnership-driven approaches to development rather than relying solely on central government allocations.

He made the call during a sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a one-storey 12-unit classroom block, teachers’ bungalow, clinic, and additional auxiliary facilities at Babayara School, alongside the commissioning of the completed Al-Rahma Centre Mosque in the municipality.

According to Hon. Fuseini, the increasing developmental needs of communities demand creative leadership and proactive engagement with donor agencies and development partners.

“We must think outside the box. Central government resources alone cannot meet the growing demands of our municipalities,” he stressed.

A Vision Rooted in Inclusion and Welfare

The MCE explained that the projects align with the broader development philosophy of President John Dramani Mahama, which emphasizes social inclusion, welfare, and collaborative development.

He noted that upon assuming office less than a year ago, improving community welfare and enhancing operational efficiency within the Assembly became a top priority.

During his initial assessments, he identified the lack of teachers’ accommodation, absence of a clinic, inadequate school infrastructure, and no dedicated place of worship for Muslims in some communities as major challenges.

“Teachers will now have decent accommodation to ease housing pressure and promote effective teaching.

The 12-unit classroom block will increase enrolment, while the clinic will address emergency health needs of students, staff, and the wider community,” he explained.

He added that providing a mosque was equally important in fostering inclusivity and respect for religious diversity.

“Muslims observe daily prayers, and it is essential to create a welcoming environment where everyone feels respected and valued, regardless of religious background,” he said.

Strategic Partnership with Qatar Charity Foundation

To address these needs, the Assembly partnered with the Qatar Charity Foundation, a well-known international humanitarian organization.

Through this collaboration, the Al-Rahma Centre Mosque has been fully constructed and commissioned, while work is set to begin on the school block, clinic, and teachers’ bungalow.

Hon. Fuseini expressed deep appreciation to the Foundation for its commitment to community development, noting that its support demonstrates a strong dedication to social welfare and community cohesion.

More Projects in the Pipeline

Beyond the Babayara projects, the MCE announced that the Qatar Charity Foundation has also completed the construction of four shop units at the Madina Job Centre, aimed at boosting local economic activity and entrepreneurship.

He further disclosed that the Assembly, in collaboration with the Foundation, will soon commence additional social infrastructure projects to strengthen education and healthcare delivery across the municipality.

Call for Broader Collaboration

Using the occasion to broaden his appeal, Hon. Fuseini called on other charitable organizations, development partners, and non-governmental organizations to support not only the La Nkwantanang–Madina Municipality but local assemblies across the country.

He emphasized that such partnerships are crucial to accelerating development and improving access to quality education, healthcare, and public infrastructure nationwide.

A Lasting Symbol of Unity

The MCE described the school, clinic, teachers’ bungalow, and Al-Rahma Centre Mosque as enduring symbols of unity, mutual respect, and community participation.

He urged stakeholders to continue nurturing these shared values for the collective advancement of society.
